Dr. Payne is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia and New Mexico. She holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Payne has worked in residential and outpatient settings providing assessment and treatment to adults and adolescents. She has extensive specialized training in forensic assessment (e.g., competency to stand trial, mental status at the time of the offense, violence risk, sexual behavior), as well as providing treatment to people with serious mental illnesses (e.g., psychotic disorders).

 

Dr. Payne primarily conducts psychological assessments but is currently accepting adult and adolescent therapy clients. She uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with features of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy to help clients facing challenging life circumstances or experiencing adjustment problems, mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and personality disorders.
